Neo-classical Castle Oost Valkenburg
Oosterweg 30, 6301 PX, Valkenburg
This castle near the Geul River is a jewel in the green Limburg landscape. It was built in neoclassical style and its symmetry makes it a stately structure. The U-shaped building has a beautiful courtyard on the side of the Geul, the cour d'honneur, whose entrance gates are flanked by pillars on which stone lions stand. On the other side of the building are freely accessible gardens in Baroque style. The history of this castle goes back to the second half of the sixteenth century, but its current appearance (and probably its striking color) dates from 1836.
