Saint Servaas bridge
Sint Servaasbrug, Maastricht
One of the most photographed spots in Maastricht. With a little imagination, you see scenes from the medieval mystery movie The Name of the Rose (1986). Sean Connery returns up in his role as the monk William Baskerville between the arches of the Saint Servaas bridge (built in 1280). The bridge is one of the oldest in the Netherlands. In 2007 the Saint Servaas bridge was drastically restored by Jo Coenen and virtually all the original remains from the 13th century disappeared.
